Who's Who

Whimsical. Garden. Vintage.  These three ideas created the July 2011 Who's Who.  Colors of green and orange were paired with a wavy linen and vintage teacups and saucers to create a little fun in a very bright and happy space.   The food was deliciously light on a hot summers day while the entertainment had people warming up to the great tunes and fun photo opportunities. The dessert display stole the show with an array of miniature treats, cupcakes, and cake balls served in vintage teacups and on assorted platters.  It wouldn't be a Who's Who event without fabulous shoes.

Swim Under The Big Top

Since last years birthday bash, Madison selected a circus theme for this year.  With the recent house move (which I truly need to write a blog about) and the acquisition of a swimming pool, the circus theme and pool theme birthday bash collided.  The answer:  Welcome to Swim Under The Big Top as we Celebrate Six and Two.

The overall color design was traditional red and yellow with circus-style tents complete with custom flags, which never waved in the air due to the lack of wind.  The children's table was topped with yellow linen and red pin-tuck runners while scattered cocktail tables adorned a yellow base linen topped with a red and white striped overlay.  Both were accompanied with large daisy flowers as centerpieces.

Circus themed-food is conveniently filled with lots of not-so-healthy-ingredients, but with a little thought, we just embraced it.  Animal crackers, honey roasted peanuts, over sized pretzels, and mac and cheese were enjoyed in origami paper cones.  Fresh raspberry lemonade, regular lemonade, and cucumber water were served in old fashion mason jars with vintage paper straws while the adults quenched their thirst on Cotton-Candy Martinis.  A circus-themed bash would not be complete without colorful lollipops, fresh popcorn and snow-cones with organic syrups, of course.  Add in some silly clown props and animal masks, a few would enjoy the photo booth.

The finale, the popcorn cupcakes. Love, love, love!  A little time consuming, but so worth it.
