Wedding Trends 2011 [Part III: Good Eats]

Food is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. It is usually of plant or animal origin, and contains essential nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamin or minerals. Catering is the business of providing foodservice at a remote site.  Events can refer to many things such as but can easily be summed up as any gathering with any observable extraordinary occurrence.   The National Association of Catering Executives knows a few things about the above and when the caterers where ask to deliver the latest trends in foodservice there was no stopping them at this years Wedding Trends bash.  From acrylic walls to cotton candy wrapped chicken skewers, each station presented something unbelievably amazing.  To enjoy the tasty treats, a live strolling table was there to assist.  Why find your silver when your silver can find you?

Wedding Trends 2011 [Part II: Design]

Design as a noun informally refers to a plan for the construction of an object or a system while “to design” (verb) refers to making this plan. No generally-accepted definition of “design” exists, and the term has different connotations in different fields. Bringing together over 80 vendors for the 2011 NACE Wedding Trends annual event brings together some of the finest design teams and some of the finest explorations of what design is.  Where else can you find a vintage plane flanked by a 70' stage, surrounded by fabulous linen and floral masterpieces all highlighted by some of the finest lighting techniques?  Look no further than the 160' x 200' space created on April 22 by the best of the best.

Wedding Trends 2011 [Part 1: Entertainment]

I had the ENJOYable opportunity to be the entertainment chair for the 2011 NACE Wedding Trends  event.  There is nothing like the pressure of providing all things entertainment to the finest event professionals who throw parties for a living to get your blood boiling.

Let's talk about some highlights.
Trend:  vintage
Theme:  1940s meets modern at a destination wedding
From flare bartenders to ariel bartenders, the drinks were flowing.
Period actors provided by Judy Frow ShowBiz added the right amount of atmosphere to welcome the guest to the 1940s Air Terminal Museum while Tianna Hall serenade the guests for the first hour.   Rockin' Robin opened  the reception with a customized song written by yours truly to the tune of Frank Sinatra's I Get No Kick From Champagne.  Richard Brown Orchestra easily kept the dance floor full all night, while beautiful models showed the latest trends in dress provided by Ivory Bridal Atelier. The boys were quite dapper as well.   MillionAir stopped by, delivering our mock bride and groom to their mock wedding reception.    It really got interesting when an suspended cake was lowered for the traditional cake cutting with a champagne chandelier as the focal point of the room.  Nothing like a fabulous stilt walker and an ariel bartender pouring the bubbly. All in a days work.

It was indeed a good time.

Susannah's 40th

Susannah celebrated the first 40 years of her life with great friends, great music, great food, and great brew.  Nothing better than a wonderful night enjoying the essence of life.

As tradition has it, Saint Arnold offers a small glass for you to enjoy the tap samples.  We decided to have a little fun with the blank glass canvas and have the guest decorate their stein.  This would be the first time a glass decorating contest has commenced for the local brewer.  Wonder if we inspired a new tradition.

Susannah loves the color purple, which became the canvas for the decor design. Vintage purple glassware with beautiful purple floral accents were displayed on fabulous flocked purple damask table runners.

A true delight it was to meet David & Susannah.
